QazBioPharm has established a Technical Committee on Standardization “Biosafety” in accordance with subparagraph 11) of paragraph 4 of Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Standardization” and the Rules for the Establishment, Operation, and Liquidation of Technical Committees on Standardization, approved by the Order of the Minister of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 26, 2018, No. 919. The committee is registered in the National Standardization System registry under No. 121.

The Technical Committee represents a form of voluntary cooperation among interested research institutions, enterprises and organizations, government authorities, associations, and conformity assessment bodies with the highest scientific and technical potential and experience in the field of biosafety and/or standardization.

Main goals of establishing the Technical Committee on Standardization “Biosafety”:

Implementation of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Biosafety of the Republic of Kazakhstan” dated May 21, 2022, No. 122-VII ZRK;

Participation in the formation of a technical regulation system in the field of biosafety;

Implementation of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Standardization” dated October 5, 2018, No. 183-VI and related legislative acts;

Promotion of efficiency in standardization activities at national and international levels.

Tasks and functions of the Technical Committee on Standardization “Biosafety”:

The committee focuses on the development and continuous improvement of the quality level of national standards, considering the requirements of international standards to ensure competitiveness in domestic and foreign markets;

It assists in the development and implementation of standards ensuring reliability in the use of biosafety elements, and in establishing standards for assessing biological risks across various human activities. This allows comparing different approaches and evaluating their environmental and economic benefits;

Participation in the preparation of standardization documents;

Preparing proposals to define the main directions for the development of the national standardization system within its mandate;

Preparing proposals for developing technical regulations and national standards, and contributing to annual national standardization work plans;

Preparing proposals and carrying out work on harmonization and unification of national regulatory documents with international, interstate, regional, and foreign standards;

Development and review of organizational standards and recommendations for standardization in Kazakhstan within the committee’s scope;

Monitoring the applicability of regulatory documents related to the committee’s activities;

Analyzing current standardization documents within the committee’s area of responsibility;

Evaluating the technical level and achieved standardization level for objects assigned to the committee;

Organizing technical discussions on draft national standards according to the directions assigned to the committee.
