On August 22 of this year, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Azhar Giniyat, introduced Kunsulu Zakarya as the General Director of JSC “National Holding QazBioPharm,” the Ministry of Health’s press service reports.

Kunsulu Daltovna is a laureate of the Al-Farabi State Prize in Science and Technology, a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and the developer of the Kazakh inactivated COVID-19 vaccine QazCovid-in (QazVac), Minister Giniyat noted.

The Minister emphasized that the head of the new QazBioPharm holding has been entrusted with ensuring biological safety, sustainable development, and the improvement of the country’s biopharmaceutical infrastructure, stimulating the development of biopharmaceutical science and industry, and reducing dependence on imported immunobiological products.

Azhar Giniyat wished the newly appointed head of the national holding success and productive work.

Previously, Kunsulu Zakarya served as the General Director of the RSE “Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems” of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Ministry highlighted that she is a recognized expert in the fields of biological safety, biotechnology, and microbiology. Under her leadership, 10 scientific and technical programs in biotechnology, biosafety, and microbiology were managed, coordinated, monitored, and controlled, encompassing over 200 scientific projects, including 22 international projects, among them:

STP “Veterinary Safety of the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Epizootiological Monitoring, Testing, Implementation, and Commercialization of Means for Specific Prevention and Diagnosis of Especially Dangerous Infectious Diseases.”

STP “Biological Safety of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Threat Assessment, Scientific and Technical Foundations for Their Prevention and Elimination.”

STP “Scientific and Practical Support for the Introduction into Economic Circulation of the Kazakh Part of Rebirth Island Territory.”

STP “Development of a Vaccine Against Coronavirus Infection COVID-19.”
