Born on July 15, 1948, in the village of Kuraylysai, Taypak district, West Kazakhstan region, Kazakh SSR.

Graduated from the Karaganda State Medical Institute, Sanitary and Hygienic Faculty (1972).

Kenes Sarsengalievich is a Doctor of Medical Sciences (2006), Academician of the International Academy of Sciences of Ecology, Human and Nature Safety (MANEB) (2003), a physician of the highest category in epidemiology and healthcare organization, and an Honorary Professor of the M. Ospanov West Kazakhstan State Medical University (WKSMU).

Work Experience:

1972–1985: Worked as a doctor at the Dzhembeity Anti-Plague Unit of the Ural Anti-Plague Station of the USSR Ministry of Health; doctor-epidemiologist of the particularly dangerous infections department of the Aktyubinsk Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Station; Chief Epidemiologist of the Aktyubinsk Regional Healthcare Department.

1985–2002: Doctor-epidemiologist, Head of the Particularly Dangerous Infections Department, and Deputy Chief Physician of the Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.

2002–2009: Chief Physician of the Republican Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RK).

2009–2011: Chairman of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Committee of the Ministry of Health of the RK and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the RK.

2012–2018: Director of the Branch of the Scientific and Practical Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Expertise and Monitoring (SPC SEEM) in Astana, and Advisor to the Director of the SPC SEEM of the Ministry of Health of the RK.

Scientific Activity:

Author and co-author of 2 monographs, 2 textbooks, 15 methodological guidelines, and over 200 scientific publications in domestic and foreign scientific journals in the field of prevention and control measures for particularly dangerous infections and sanitary protection of the borders of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Participated in international and national research projects, and made a significant contribution to the development of regulatory documents to ensure sanitary and epidemiological safety.

Awards:

Breastplate "Excellence in Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan" ("Қазақстан Республикасы денсаулық сақтау ісінің үздігіне") (2000).

Medal "For Distinguished Labour" ("Ерен еңбегі үшін") (2005).

Anniversary medals and the Certificate of Honor from the Minister of Health of the RK (2006).
