On July 31, 2024, QazBioPharm National Holding JSC (hereinafter referred to as the Holding) hosted an official meeting between K. D. Zakarya, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Science and Innovation, A. S. Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, G. Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Holding’s management with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Kazakhstan with Mr. Zhang Xiao.

The main purpose of the meeting is to strengthen partnership and establish cooperation between Kazakhstani scientific centers and leading Chinese companies in the field of biotechnology, genomic technologies, and molecular diagnostics.

During the visit, it was noted about the cooperation between the Holding and the Chinese company Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), as well as about the fruitful work of both sides in the scientific field.

Also, in order to further develop scientific potential between the two countries, issues of personnel training in the field of biotechnology, biosafety, veterinary medicine, research in the field of medicine and attracting investments in scientific projects, etc. were discussed.

At the same time, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China got acquainted with the work of the Astana Genomic Center (AGC) genetic laboratory, created jointly with BGI on the basis of the National Center for Biotechnology, a subsidiary of the Holding, equipped with modern equipment to develop innovative diagnostic methods for various diseases, including genetic, oncological.
