On May 29, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, hosted the International Forum “Lessons of the Pandemic: the experience of Kazakhstan”, which became an important event in the field of science and medicine. One of the central moments of the forum was the presentation of the documentary book “QazVaC: TAITALAS”, dedicated to the creation of the first Kazakh vaccine QazVac during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The official presentation of the book was attended by high-profile representatives of government agencies, scientific organizations, as well as prominent public figures and media representatives. Among them were Kunsulu Zakarya, President of the Board of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ergali Abduraimov, General Director of the National Holding Company QazBioPharm, Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Akmaral Alnazarova, Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The documentary book “QazVaC: TAITALAS” tells about the feat of Kazakhstani scientists who developed a domestic vaccine in the fight against a global pandemic. While working on the book, the authors met with scientists and managers who shared details about the vaccine development process, overcoming numerous obstacles, and building a domestic vaccine manufacturing plant.

According to Kunsulu Zakaria, the purpose of the book’s publication is to preserve the memory of the hard work of scientists and medical workers, as well as to emphasize the importance of their contribution to the fight against the pandemic: “The pandemic is over, but the work of scientists and health workers should not be forgotten, the book is being published for this purpose.”

After the presentation, Altai Kulginov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Berdibek Saparbayev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of QazBioPharm National Holding JSC, and other important figures delivered welcoming speeches. They stressed the importance of Kazakhstan’s scientific achievements in the context of global biological threats and the possibility of using national experience in international practice.

During the forum, participants discussed a wide range of issues, including Kazakhstan’s experience in developing vaccines, modern approaches to preventing and predicting biological threats, as well as advanced technologies in the field of medicine and biotechnology. Leading experts such as Azhar Giniyat, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yergali Abduraimov, Director General of QazBioPharm, as well as representatives of the World Health Organization and other international institutions made presentations.

An important addition to the forum was the photo exhibition “The history of the creation of QazVac”, organized on the site of the QazBioPharm holding.
