M.A. Mambetaliyev is a specialist in epizootiology, virology, microbiology, biotechnology, as well as in the diagnosis and prevention of infectious animal diseases. He is the developer of vaccines against diseases of pigs and camels. He has authored over 180 scientific works, including 57 inventions and 14 regulatory and technical documents for biological products.
For more than 30 years, he served as the head of a unique microorganism collection that stores pathogens of exotic and highly dangerous viral infections found among animals, birds, and humans — both in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.

He was awarded the USSR Medal “For Labor Distinction” (1983), the Honorary Certificate of the Akim of Zhambyl Region (2008), the medals “For Merit in the Professional Field” and “Veteran of Labor” (2015–2016), and the Order “Kurmet” in 2020.
