Mission:
To ensure the country’s biological safety by developing and implementing scientific foundations for monitoring, prevention, and risk assessment of human infection with particularly dangerous infections in Kazakhstan, aiming to prevent and reduce diseases in humans and animals.

Key Directions and Objectives:

• Development and implementation of scientifically based methodological foundations for monitoring particularly dangerous infections and ensuring biological safety.
• Monitoring, risk assessment, and forecasting of epizootic and epidemiological situations in natural plague foci and other particularly dangerous infections (PDIs).
• Ensuring storage, regular replenishment, and maintaining the viability of the national and working collections of microorganisms for scientific purposes and the production of diagnostic preparations.
• Development and production of new immunobiological preparations and the improvement of existing ones for the prevention and diagnosis of particularly dangerous infections.
• Providing scientific and pharmaceutical organizations with laboratory SPF animals for research and preclinical trials.
• Ensuring continuous professional development programs for biosafety specialists regardless of departmental affiliation (specialized courses, advanced training, seminar-trainings).
• Conducting preventive measures for disinsection and deratization in natural plague foci and other particularly dangerous infections.
• Methodological and practical assistance to health and veterinary authorities and institutions in: territorial sanitary protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organization and implementation of preventive and anti-epidemic measures in cases of quarantine, particularly dangerous, and natural-focal (zoonotic) infectious diseases, their laboratory diagnostics, and compliance with safety requirements when working with microorganisms of pathogenicity groups I-II.
