On July 31, 2024, JSC “National Holding QazBioPharm” hosted an official meeting attended by K. Zakarya, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Science and Innovation, A. Kuantyrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, G. Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and the Holding’s leadership. The meeting also included the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Zhang Xiao.

The primary goal of the meeting was to strengthen partnerships and foster collaboration between Kazakhstani research centers and leading Chinese companies in the fields of biotechnology, genomic technologies, and molecular diagnostics.

During the visit, the parties highlighted the cooperation between the Holding and Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), emphasizing the productive scientific work carried out by both sides.

Discussions also focused on further developing the scientific potential of the two nations, including:

• Training specialists in biotechnology, biosecurity, and veterinary sciences;
• Advancing research in medical fields;
• Attracting investments for scientific projects.

Additionally, the Chinese Ambassador was introduced to the operations of the Astana Genomic Centre (AGC), a genetic laboratory established in collaboration with BGI under the National Biotechnology Center, a subsidiary of the Holding. The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technology and focuses on developing innovative diagnostic methods for various diseases, including genetic and oncological disorders.
